Separate the release from its interpretation
Start with the original institution’s release. Identify whether it is an interest-rate decision, an economic release or a speech. A headline may omit conditions and important details. Record the publication date and release time; an old release shared again is not a new event.
Ask three questions
- What is new compared with the previous statement?
- What does the institution say about inflation, growth and risks?
- Is it describing a current decision or a possibility conditional on later data?
Price responses also depend on prior expectations, liquidity and participants’ positioning. This article therefore does not turn a rate headline into a buy or sell signal.
A demo-account exercise
Choose one release and write a summary in your own words before looking at the chart. Then observe the reaction while recording the timeframe and spread. Spreads and execution can change around news, and a stop does not guarantee its execution price. The aim is to distinguish information, interpretation and market response, rather than prove that one headline predicts price.
